Crossing the road at red: boy (12) hit by car

A terrible traffic accident in Vienna on the Hernalser Gürtel: a twelve-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car at around 4.45 p.m. on Saturday. The boy is said to have crossed the road at a red light. He was taken to hospital. 

According to the current state of the investigation, the boy is believed to have run a red light when coming from Kinderspitalgasse and crossed the safety path there. He was hit by the vehicle, knocked to the ground and initially injured to an indeterminate degree. This was reported by the Vienna police on Sunday.

The boy was given emergency medical treatment by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and then taken to hospital. The traffic accident command recorded the accident and carried out investigations at the scene.
