Knife attack at law firm: 53-year-old man confesses

The 53-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a 56-year-old woman ten times in front of a law firm in Vienna-Landstraße on Monday has now been questioned by the police - and has confessed. He is now in custody. His motive: the victim wanted money and didn't get it ... 

As the "Krone" learned, the 53-year-old, who is under guardianship, had gone to the law firm because he needed money. "He should have received 200 euros, but wanted 400 euros," the lawyer said. After being told that he could not get any more, he left, but returned in the afternoon wearing a mask.

Victim fled into the stairwell
The suspect had already attacked his victim on Monday afternoon in the courtyard in front of his lawyer's office after the argument, he punched the 56-year-old law firm employee, whereupon the woman fled into the stairwell. However, the suspect followed her and pulled out a pocket knife. He then stabbed his victim ten times. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

Nevertheless, the victim was able to escape to the office, where a colleague alerted the police. The Vienna Professional Rescue Service provided the woman with emergency medical care and took her to hospital. The 56-year-old woman is now in a stable condition again.

The prime suspect fled after the crime and was arrested a few hours later near his home. "He made no statements and referred to his statements to the police," said court spokeswoman Christina Salzborn about his interrogation. The 53-year-old had been a client of the law firm since August 2024 in the context of adult representation.
