Mozart Week director Rolando Villazón had two reasons to celebrate on Friday evening. The festival opened with Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo". Reason enough to celebrate the premiere and opening in one! This was reflected above all in the guest list: almost 200 people came to the Karl Böhm Hall.

"I really enjoyed the production, I have to say," said an enthusiastic Kristina Hammer, President of the Festival. And she wasn't the only one to applaud: gallery owner Thaddaeus Ropac, Mozarteum Foundation President Johannes Honsig-Erlenburg and ORF Salzburg boss Waltraud Langer  also made sure they didn't miss the premiere evening.

Director Nikolaus Habjan was overwhelmed by the standing ovation from the audience. "Making theater and art in general is always a team effort. Every dancer, every musician, every puppeteer is indispensable," summed up Rolando Villazón.

The whole ensemble celebrated until the early hours of the morning.
