24-hour check in Tyrol: 90 violations

The Tyrolean police checked heavy goods vehicles on the B178 Loferer Straße for 24 hours. From 6 a.m. on Wednesday to 6 a.m. on Thursday, a total of 79 heavy goods vehicles and their drivers were checked. Result: 90 violations!

Officers from the provincial traffic department and the Kufstein and Kitzbühel district police commands were deployed to carry out intensive technical checks. In the period from Wednesday to Thursday, 6 a.m. each day, there was a heavy traffic control focus on the B178 (Loferer Straße).

90 violations for 25 vehicles
During the checks, a total of 79 heavy goods vehicles and their drivers were checked for compliance with traffic regulations.

A total of 90 infringements were recorded for 25 vehicles:

• 39 violations relating to driving and rest periods
• 24 violations relating to technical defects
• 11 violations relating to dangerous goods
• 16 other violations

Five drivers were prohibited from continuing their journey. The registration of two vehicles had to be temporarily suspended and the license plates removed.

A breathalyzer test was carried out on all truck drivers and one driver was found to be over the 0.5 per mille alcohol limit. One driver will be reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office on suspicion of an offense under § 293 StGB (determination of manipulation of driving and rest times).
