Wanted to feed ducks

On Monday afternoon, a Hungarian man (50) and his partner (47) drove to a boat landing stage in Reichersberg, Upper Austria. According to reports, the couple wanted to feed ducks there. However, something went wrong, which is why the car with the two of them suddenly rolled into the Inn and sank. 

The Hungarian couple, who live in Reicherberg, drove along the Auweg municipal road to the boat mooring at around 4 p.m. on Monday. They allegedly intended to feed the ducks there.

For unknown reasons, however, the woman suddenly started the engine of the car, which was already parked, causing it to drive uncontrollably into the Inn. Fortunately, both were able to free themselves from the sinking car unharmed and make it to the riverbank. There they raised the alarm.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and rescued the car, which was submerged up to the roof, as well as a damaged fishing boat.

Both drivers tested positive for alcohol (just over one per mille and over 0.6 per mille respectively). The Hungarian driver has now lost his license, the woman did not have one. Both will be charged.
