Murder in Favoriten: Partner confesses to the crime

After the murder of a 49-year-old woman in Vienna-Favoriten, which became known at the weekend, her suspected partner has already confessed.

As reported by the regional police headquarters, the woman was injured by blows to the head and ultimately strangled. The 39-year-old did not give any details about his motive.

Suspect dialed emergency number himself
The man called the emergency services himself at around 9.30 a.m. on Sunday. However, an emergency doctor was only able to determine that the Austrian woman was dead.

The Austrian man is already in a prison. The South Regional Criminal Police Office and the public prosecutor's office are investigating the case. Pre-trial detention has also been requested, as there is a so-called danger of the crime being committed.

Already 16 murders of women
According to figures from the Federal Criminal Police Office, 16 women have already been killed by men this year up to August 25. This compares to 21 female victims murdered by men in the same period last year.
