Cyclist has a serious fall on the Großglockner road

At around 1.30 pm on Saturday, a Slovenian cyclist crashed on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The man (59) was injured and had to be flown to hospital in Schwarzach by rescue helicopter.

The 59-year-old Slovenian crashed his e-bike on the descent at "hairpin bend 1" for unknown reasons and hit the asphalt hard. A car driver following behind saw the injured man, informed the emergency services and administered first aid.

A doctor who happened to be passing by looked after the man until the rescue helicopter arrived. The e-biker was unable to provide any information about the circumstances of the accident and was not wearing a helmet when he fell.
