Microsleep and hit-and-run: Accidents in Tyrol

There have been two serious traffic accidents in Tyrol in the past few hours. In St. Anton (Landeck district), a driver (47) crashed into a green island at a traffic circle. In Tarrenz (Imst district), a moped driver collided with a pedestrian (48) and drove off.

A serious accident occurred on the Arlbergbundesstraße in St. Anton shortly before 1 pm on Friday. A 47-year-old Slovenian woman drove onto the green island in the middle of a traffic circle. The reason was probably a microsleep.

She, her two children (27 and 30 years old) and her husband (60) from Bosnia were seriously injured and taken to hospital in Zams by ambulance and emergency helicopter. However, all four were able to leave the hospital again.

Moped driver collided with pedestrian
A second accident occurred in Tarrenz on Saturday evening. There, a previously unknown moped driver with Imst license plates hit a pedestrian (48). The local woman fell and crashed into an adjacent field, sustaining minor injuries.

The unknown moped rider came back towards the 48-year-old a short time later.

According to the injured woman, the moped rider did not stop and was alone on the vehicle. "A short time later, the unknown moped driver came towards the 48-year-old woman again. This time with two people on the moped," according to the police. One person was wearing a yellow and white helmet.
