Carinthian mountain guide dies while canyoning

The guide from Klagenfurt was out canyoning with a group of nine people at the waterfall in Tignale near the western shore of Lake Garda on Monday. But the 38-year-old fell into a gorge.

The Carinthian guide, who knew the canyoning routes and this area of Italy very well, had completed his training the previous year and was considered an experienced canyoning athlete, fell 45 meters into the depths, according to the members of the group. 

The 38-year-old died instantly. The recovery of the body proved difficult. A helicopter was requested, the Carabinieri told APA.
