Rescue came too late

Drama on Lake Wörthersee: woman floating lifeless in the water

Tragedy Saturday evening at the Krumpendorf lido: a missing Viennese woman was discovered floating lifeless in Lake Wörthersee by the crew of the police helicopter from the air - an officer immediately jumped into the water. But all help came too late for the 60-year-old.  

A friend of the 60-year-old had become concerned shortly after 6 p.m. because the woman had not returned from her swim. And alerted the police. The rescue chain was immediately set in motion and a helicopter was dispatched. A little later, around 30 meters from the shore, the helicopter actually found her. The missing Viennese woman was floating lifeless in Lake Wörthersee.

The police rescuer on board the helicopter didn't hesitate for a second, jumped into the water and brought the unconscious woman to a nearby jetty. There, with the help of a doctor who happened to be present, the officers tried to resuscitate the 60-year-old woman. Unfortunately, all help came too late for the woman - she died a short time later in hospital.
