Schoolboy hit by streetcar while cycling

A schoolboy from Linz (15) was trying to cross Ferihumerstraße on his bike on Thursday when he was hit by a streetcar and trapped between it and the sidewalk - but the boy was lucky. It was the second streetcar accident in two days.

The 15-year-old from Linz was riding his bike with a group at around 1.45 p.m. on Thursday. When he wanted to cross Ferihumerstraße in Linz, he was hit by an approaching streetcar and trapped between it and the sidewalk, according to the police.

Slightly injured
Fortunately, the pupil escaped with "only" minor injuries. He was taken to hospital after first aid.

It was the second accident involving a streetcar in just two days. On Wednesday, a 13-year-old was hit by a streetcar in Leonding and thrown to the ground; the driver was unable to prevent the collision despite emergency braking. The 13-year-old was also taken to hospital.
