From the green "brat" to the cool "ice princess". The picture is the same time and time again. Women in politics are mocked, belittled or hated. The "Krone" took a look at why misogyny is still so prevalent in Austrian politics.

FPÖ EU top candidate Harald Vilimsky has defendant status in criminal proceedings. This was apparently not an obstacle to his candidacy. Reinhold Lopatka was the string-puller during the Grand Coalition. Christian Kern even compared Lopatka to "a suicide bomber who blows himself up alone in a telephone booth". He was regarded as the "bad cop" of the ÖVP team. However, his character traits never fell on Lopatka's head and did not prevent him from being chosen as the ÖVP's top candidate. Lena Schilling is a different story.
