50 men from the Friesach, St. Salvator and Zeltschach fire departments battled a meadow fire at the "Kuhriegel" in Friesach on Wednesday afternoon. It was caused by four young people, who are now being searched for.

Presumably while handling a mini Bunsen burner, two boys and two girls ignited a meadow at around 4.30 pm at the "Kuhriegel" viewing area north-east of Steinbruchweg (municipality of Friesach). "Due to the gusty wind, it spread to an area of approx. 200 m² to 300 m²," said the police.

The fire was only quickly brought under control thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire department. Fortunately, no one was injured and there was no damage to property. "During the investigation at the scene of the fire, officers found a mini Bunsen burner and identified two witnesses who saw the four unknown youths at the scene of the fire," said an officer.

Although a local search was unsuccessful, the investigation is continuing. It needs to be clarified whether it was an accident or intentional.
