Police looking for witnesses
Unknown persons sawed down tree, fell onto crossroads
A curious and mysterious criminal case is currently keeping the police in Rum near Innsbruck busy: on Sunday night, unknown perpetrators cut down a tree at the intersection of several hiking trails, causing it to fall onto the path.
The unknown perpetrators struck between 5.30 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Presumably using a hacksaw, they felled the 20-metre tree so that it fell directly onto the Sieben-Wege junction. From there, paths branch off to Enzianhütte, Garzanhof and Rechenhof, which is why many pedestrians and cyclists pass by here at the weekend.
The tree on the junction made it difficult to pass. The Rum fire department had to arrive and remove the tree.
The police are now looking for people who can provide useful information about the damage to property. They are asked to contact the Rum police station (059133 7121).
