Thrown off his bike and seriously injured in the head

A racing cyclist (37) suffered serious head injuries in a collision between two bicycles in Innsbruck on Friday afternoon. The second person involved in the accident was also injured, albeit less seriously. 

The accident occurred at around 1.50 p.m. on Friday on the side road of Kranebitter Allee in the Tyrolean capital. The 37-year-old local was riding his racing bike when a 27-year-old German came towards him. As the cyclists passed each other, the bikes collided.

The 37-year-old was thrown headfirst from his racing bike onto the road and suffered serious head injuries. The ambulance took him to the hospital in Innsbruck. The 27-year-old German suffered an injury to his left hand. He sought medical treatment on his own.
