There are still skeptics
New coach? Bayern are holding “intensive talks”
Will Julian Nagelsmann actually make a spectacular return to FC Bayern? The current national team coach is said to be the Munich bosses' declared dream target. Talks with the 36-year-old are already "at an advanced stage".
According to a Sky report, the record champions have recently "intensified" talks with Nagelsmann. Key points have already been defined. The 36-year-old is set to sign a three- or four-year contract in the event of a possible return.
Sports director Max Eberl in particular is said to be a big supporter of Nagelsmann. However, as reported by "Sport1", some skeptics at the club still need to be convinced. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old himself has not yet made a final decision on his future.
Family as a factor
Finally, it is also quite possible that Nagelsmann will remain national coach after the home European Championships. The DFB is said to be aiming for a longer-term collaboration. So far, the 36-year-old has only made it clear that his family is a key factor in his plans. He wants to actively support the development of his children. That is why a coaching position outside Germany is considered out of the question.
However, Nagelsmann could well imagine a return to Bayern, where he was sacked in March 2023 after just under 21 months in office. Munich recently received a rejection from preferred coach Xabi Alonso. In addition to Nagelsmann, Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi is also said to remain an option.
