Man in hospital with severe burns

A tragic apartment fire broke out in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus on Sunday evening. A Viennese man was taken to hospital with severe burns.

Passers-by had noticed smoke coming from a window in Sechshauser Straße at around 9pm. They immediately alerted the emergency services. After opening the door, a 50 to 60-year-old man was discovered, reported fire department spokesman Gerald Schimpf on Monday.

Second and third degree burns
The man was brought to safety and handed over to the Vienna Professional Rescue Service. They took the injured man to hospital with second and third-degree burns. The fire department quickly extinguished the flames, checked the neighboring apartments and was on the scene for about an hour.
