"Discreet" sale
After yacht, Benko’s private jet is also gone
After his yacht, real estate juggler René Benko will soon also be losing his private jet. The leased plane is currently up for sale. According to an insider, the Signa founder wants 19 million euros for it, as part of the money still has to be used to pay off the lease.
However, the private jet is said to have been valued at only 16 million euros in the documents of the Laura Private Foundation, which was founded by Benko and his mother. The aircraft is a Bombardier Global Express with the registration OE-IRB. The details were already listed in a sales project in mid-March.
To be sold discreetly
According to the news magazine "Spiegel", the private jet is to be sold discreetly. Previously, a company belonging to the private foundation had already sold the 62-meter-long yacht "Roma". This brought in 25 million euros.
However, neither Benko nor the beneficiaries of the foundation are currently able to access the money, according to the "Spiegel" report: banks are said to be refusing to book the money to and from accounts related to Benko or his family foundations due to the ongoing investigations. However, a lawyer said that the money was "duly credited" to the seller's account.
