Will Sharpe:
The Japanese-British actor plays Mozart
Sky is producing a new "Amadeus" series revolving around the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Will Sharpe takes on the title role as a young composer in Vienna who wants to further his career.
His musical rival Antonio Salieri is played by Paul Bettany.
Based on Peter Shaffer's stage play, author Joe Barton and director Julian Farino want to deliver a new interpretation. Filming is planned in Hungary.
25-year-old Mozart
The series takes a look at the life of twenty-five-year-old Amadeus, who finds himself in the vibrant musical center of Vienna at the end of the 18th century. Determined to go his own way and without the financial support of his father, Amadeus finds unexpected help in the young singer Constanze Weber Mozart, who is soon to become his wife.
Dynamic interaction
The young composer's relationships lead him to important personalities such as the Italian opera star and court composer Antonio Salieri. The series promises to explore the dynamic interactions between Amadeus, Constanze and Salieri that will shape their lives and legacy for years to come.
London-born Sharpe, who then grew up in Tokyo until the age of eight, became known as an actor through the series "Casualty" (2009) and "White Lotus" (2022). He directed the films "Black Pond" (2011) and " The Wondrous World of Louis Wain" (2021), among others.
