Traditional hike
Over four mountains in summer temperatures
It's that time again: two weeks after Good Friday, many Carinthians climb four mountains in Central Carinthia on Three-Day Friday.
The weather is rarely as good as it is this year, even if the hikers are not deterred from the age-old custom by bad weather. When the procession sets off in the night from Thursday to Friday after the holy mass in the church on Magdalensberg at midnight, it will only be just under ten degrees. And during the course of the day, the hikers can expect sunshine and temperatures like in early summer.
Then it's a good 50 kilometers via Ulrichsberg and Veitsberg with the cross-bearers up to Lorenziberg. In between, there is always the opportunity to fortify yourself with a snack, Reindling or coffee. According to ancient tradition, anyone who has walked this route three times in their life is guaranteed paradise. A perfect combination with the beautiful weather to take on this hike yourself this year.
