Hit and run
Dark sedan shoots down jogger on morning run
A round of sport before work - this habit was the undoing of a 35-year-old man from Villach on Thursday. An irresponsible driver sped across a zebra crossing and shot the jogger down.
It was shortly before six o'clock in the morning when the 35-year-old jogger wanted to cross Pestalozzistraße in Villach. At the same time, the unknown driver was traveling from Westbahnhof in the direction of Ossiacherzeile. "When the jogger was already on the protective path, the unknown driver accelerated his vehicle," reported the police.
Traffic light was switched to green
"According to two witnesses, the pedestrian lights were green." The car, described as a dark sports sedan or a dark coupe, hit the Villach man.
Driver of the car did not stop
"The jogger was thrown to the ground and suffered minor injuries," the police continued. "The unknown driver of the car drove on after the collision without stopping." While the 35-year-old was taken to Villach LKH, the police are now looking for further witnesses who can provide information about the accident and the hit-and-run driver.
