Even the fire engines “melted” during the fire

It was a fire hazard situation. In the middle of Lohnsburg in the district of Ried im Innkreis, a warehouse full of wood caught fire on Tuesday. The intensity of the fire even affected an emergency vehicle.

"The heat development was enormous. The plastic parts and the blue light of one of our cars were deformed. The window panes in the neighboring building shattered," says Christian Spindler, commander of the Lohnsburg fire department, describing the dangerous situation.

Dry wood stored
The fire broke out in the afternoon in the warehouse in the middle of Lohnsburg. In addition to two vehicles, a considerable amount of dry wood was also stacked in the open hall. The various types of dried wood were intended for production at a wood processing company.

Despite the rapid firefighting operation launched by a total of six fire departments, the fire could not be saved. "However, we prevented the fire from spreading to the neighboring buildings," says Spindler. The cause of the fire is now being investigated and footage from video cameras installed in the surrounding area is also being analyzed.
