Cries for help on the street
Women in Vienna threatened with a knife after visiting a bar
There were loud cries for help on the street in Vienna's city center in the early hours of Sunday morning: Two young women (21 and 24 years old) had left a bar, after which a 28-year-old man allegedly threatened them with a razor.
The man is said to have pulled out the razor in front of the bar on Franz-Josefs-Kai and demanded cash. By shouting loudly for help, the women were able to draw attention to themselves and scare the 28-year-old man away.
Weapon discovered in bottle bank
However, officers were soon able to catch and arrest the man from Syria. The knife was discovered in a bottle bank.
Only wanted to reclaim money
During questioning, the 28-year-old stated that he had invited the women to a bar and then wanted the money he had allegedly paid back. According to his own statements, he only had the knife with him for self-defense.
The man was reported to the police.
