A test driver's license holder from Altmünster got behind the wheel of his car last night in a drunken stupor (over two per mille) and drove home. This could not have gone well: The vehicle left the road and ended up in a stream. A young drunk driver (21) also caused an accident in Laakirchen.

A young test driver's license holder from Altmünster ended up in a stream in his home town early on Sunday morning. The 19-year-old got behind the wheel of his car with more than two per mille alcohol in his blood.

Car rollover
Coming from Neukirchen on the Großalm Landesstraße, he was driving towards Altmünster at around 0.40 am. At the Pfannstieleck junction, he lost control of his car, collided with a bridge railing and skidded along the embankment of the Ebenbach stream. 20 meters further on, the car hit a guard rail, overturned and was flung into the stream.

The 19-year-old was injured in the accident, but was able to free himself from the wreckage. He was taken to hospital. The badly damaged wreck had to be recovered by the fire department.

Landed in the ditch
On Sunday morning, a 21-year-old woman from Laakirchen was also driving her car with just under a blood alcohol level. In Gschwandt, the car left the road and came to rest on its side in the ditch.

Thanks to an e-call message, the rescue chain was automatically set in motion. The injured 21-year-old was able to free herself from the wreck. She was first treated by the Red Cross and then taken to hospital. Her driver's license was revoked and charges will follow.
