249 km/h: speeding driver (20) had to surrender BMW 3 Series

A 20-year-old from Vienna has now lost his test driver's license and car. Police officers observed the young man racing with a second driver on the A23. He is said to have accelerated his BMW 3 Series to 249 km/h. 

Won the race, but got rid of his test driving license and car - that's how you could sum up the night of Easter Sunday for a 20-year-old speeding driver in Vienna who was caught by the provincial traffic department. According to police spokesman Markus Dittrich, the officers observed the 20-year-old racing with a second driver on the Südosttangente (A23) southbound at around midnight.

Several road users endangered
The officers took up the pursuit and observed several risky overtaking maneuvers in which uninvolved road users were endangered. The young man was stopped near Traiskirchen on the A2 (southern highway). The police confiscated his older model BMW 3 Series and also confiscated his driver's license.

Second speeding driver was able to flee with the vehicle
His opponent - also driving a BMW 3 Series - escaped from the officers - at first. He was reported to the police and could not be stopped. He had accelerated his coupé up to 212 km/h.
