Puch win derby, Anif salvage point
On Saturday, a number of clubs in the Salzburg League managed to make a breakthrough in the fight against the threat of relegation, in which almost a dozen clubs are involved. Among them was Puch, who dispatched Golling 5:0 in the derby, even when they were outnumbered. Meanwhile, Anif at least got off to a good start, drawing 1-1 with ten men against Bürmoos.
After the 3-0 opening win against Adnet, Puch new signing Eyüp Erdogan was still struggling with himself. "But we had talks with him during the week. I told him that I know what he can do, that he will play and that I believe in him," revealed new coach Mersudin Jukic. Erdogan repaid his faith, scoring four goals in the 5:0 win in Golling. The last one was scored while short-handed after Sejdic was shown red shortly after the break. "I like the team's character and discipline," said Jukic proudly. His team thus widened the gap to the bottom of the table, with the bottom two relegated in any case. Golling manager Schöberl was stunned: "I've never seen anything like it."
Penalty "went into the third floor"
Eugendorf also made up ground with a 2:1 win against Siezenheim, where ex-professional Sturm sat on the bench with an ailment. Mayr, the match-winner against Henndorf, made it 1:0, Költringer scored the final goal. Luck: Munaro missed the chance to equalize from the penalty spot. "It went into the third floor," explained Eugendorf sporting director Kopleder metaphorically. Meanwhile, Grödig could not get past a 2-2 draw in Henndorf. "That was a declaration of bankruptcy. We have some work to do," moaned coach Deliu. Hoffmann equalized with a bicycle kick in stoppage time. Grödig complained in vain that Höfler was obstructing the keeper on the goal line and were ruled offside. "We had chances for two games, but we have to be satisfied with the point after the course of the game," said Henndorf section manager Lindlbauer.
"Point gives us a lot of strength"
Anif at least got a point in the rainy battle against Bürmoos. As Askhabov, who had already been cautioned, had a hand in the goal to make it 0:1, the home side were also shown the red card. "After that, the team was outstanding in terms of fighting and running," enthused coach Berktold. Captain Schober equalized after a penalty. "This point will give us a lot of strength for the next rounds."
