4:2 victory in Pustertal

Great first period lets KAC cheer away from home as well

KAC increase their lead in the semi-final series against Pustertal to 2:0! First they countered the South Tyroleans twice, then Haudum deflected the ball into a 3:0 lead (18th) and it looked like another clear-cut victory. But in the end, the home side came back to 2:3 - but Unterweger scored the final goal to make it 4:2.

Strong! The KAC carried over the momentum from their 7:1 home win and dominated the start in Pustertal as well. They dominated the five-on-five and were compact at the back. Two counter-attacks gave them the lead: first Ganahl was set up perfectly by Mursak and scored into the far corner (10'). Fraser then tucked the puck into the far corner (18). Just 28 seconds later, Haudum increased the lead to 3:0 with a deflection and put the Red Jackets on course for an away win.

Schwinger with top chance
In the middle third, the home side kept attacking, but did not create many concrete opportunities. The KAC had the best chance - but Schwinger failed to beat Pustertal goalie Smith on a solo run.

Pustertal came back to 2:3
At the start of the final period, Pustertal was able to celebrate after all: Shortly after the end of a power play, Morley brought the puck to the goal from an acute angle - the puck went in off the thigh of KAC defender Jensen Aabo to make it 1:3 (41'). Pustertal then pressed for a while, but Akeson (44) and Hannoun (47) failed to beat Red Jackets goalie Dahm.

The South Tyroleans pulled 2:3 back with a powerplay goal thanks to a Frycklund hammer into the corner of the net (57'). Once again short-handed, the KAC had another close call - but Unterweger put everyone out of their misery 23 seconds before the final buzzer to make it 4:2.
