Isuzu is also bringing this electric truck to Europe
In the world of pick-ups, where diesel has long reigned unchallenged, the revolution has long since begun. Electric motors are gradually finding their way in. Now also at Isuzu.
At the Bangkok International Motor Show (March 27 to April 7), the Japanese manufacturer is presenting the D-Max pick-up, which was previously only available with a diesel engine, with an electric drive. Officially, the D-Max EV is a concept, but it gives a preview of a series model planned for 2025, which is also due to come to Europe.
The EV is presented with a crew cab body and a look similar to the current series D-Max. However, a 67 kWh battery is located between the ladder frame. Long ranges are not to be expected, but there is no information on this yet.
The pick-up is powered by a 40 kW/54 hp front engine and a 90 kW/122 hp rear engine, which together provide all-wheel drive. A total torque of 325 Nm is specified. Isuzu promises a payload of one tonne, a towing capacity of 3.5 tons and a top speed of 130 km/h.
Norway, known for its pioneering role in electromobility, will be the first country in Europe where the electric D-Max will be available from 2025.
The diesel D-Max with crew cab is available in Austria from just over 45,500 euros. Its 1.9-liter diesel produces 163 hp and offers a maximum torque of 360 Nm. The top speed is 180 km/h. Payload 1100 kg, towing capacity 3500 kg.
