"L'Equipe" reports
Revealed: David Alaba is Spain’s top earner
The French sports daily "L'Equipe" has revealed the top salaries in the Spanish La Liga in its latest edition. The absolute top earner is said to be ÖFB star David Alaba of all people.
His monthly salary is estimated by "L'Equipe" at an incredible 1.88 million euros gross. That makes an annual salary of 22.56 million euros. The 31-year-old Viennese transferred from Bayern to Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2021, but is currently having to take a break due to a ruptured ligament. His contract with the Whites runs until 2026.
Whether he will still be number 1 by then is highly questionable. After all, Kylian Mbappe is set to earn €20 million net if he joins Real.
Four players in third place
Robert Lewandowski, a former Bavarian, is also currently in second place. The top Polish striker is said to earn 10,000 euros a month less than Alaba at FC Barcelona - i.e. 1.87 million euros. The third place is then supposedly shared by four players, according to estimates. Ilkay Gündogan from FC Barcelona, Real stars Vinicius and Jude Bellingham and Atletico keeper Jan Oblak are each said to earn €1.67 million a month.
