Human error
Cell phone sounded the alarm by itself after helicopter crash
The accident was human error, help was summoned by technology. After a private helicopter crashed at the airfield in Suben, the cell phone of the passenger sounded the alarm herself. Fortunately, the accident turned out to be minor.
The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the airfield in Suben. A 68-year-old man from Mondsee was carrying out take-off, hovering and landing exercises there. His 60-year-old wife was also in the helicopter. According to the pilot, an operating error occurred during the maneuvers, causing the helicopter to turn once on its own axis at an altitude of around three meters, tilt to the left and touch the ground with its rotor blades. The helicopter then crashed.
Couple injured
The impact caused the emergency detection system on the 60-year-old's smartphone to make an emergency call. The rescue chain was then set in motion. The couple suffered injuries of indeterminate severity and were taken to Schärding Hospital.
