Expansion into Italy
KTM acquires majority stake in MV Agusta
KTM has acquired a majority stake in the Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta Motor SpA, based in Varese in northern Italy. The Pierer Mobility subsidiary had already acquired 25.1 percent of MV Agusta in the fall of 2022 and has now exercised an option to acquire a further 25 percent ahead of schedule.
This means that KTM now holds a majority stake in the Italian company earlier than expected. In the fall of 2023, it was announced that the move would take place at the beginning of 2026.
KTM already took over the supply chain and purchasing of MV Agusta last year, and the product range is also partially distributed via Pierer's sales network. KTM is now taking over the industrial management completely and is planning to expand the site. According to the company, the medium-term plan is to produce more than 10,000 MV Agusta motorcycles per year at the Varese site.
Pierer remained tight-lipped about the purchase price for the remaining 25 percent. This had been "calculated in accordance with the previously agreed valuation method (EBITDA multiple)". Hubert Trunkenpolz, member of the Executive Board of Pierer Mobility, will assume the role of CEO of MV Agusta.
