In the middle of a restaurant in the Russian metropolis of St. Petersburg, an ex-convict who had fought his way free in the Ukraine shot and killed a man. What was particularly shocking was that he then simply sat back down at his table and continued eating with relish ...

40-year-old Alexej I. pulls out his pistol and shoots the man sitting opposite him. The man jumps up and falls not far from the table. The 40-year-old approaches and fires a few shots. The man dies on the spot. A surveillance camera captured these horrific scenes on Monday evening and the "Bumaga" portal published them.

Afterwards, Alexei I simply returned to his table and continued eating, reports "Fontanka". According to the report, he did not even try to flee the scene of the crime. Police officers were therefore able to arrest him a short time later. "Fontanka" assumes that it was a planned murder - the deceased is said to have owed the man a lot of money. Criminal proceedings have already been initiated.

Alexei I. is taken away here:

War returnees receive no therapy
Alexei I had only recently returned from the war in Ukraine and had been recruited from the penal colony for deployment at the front. He was reportedly sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for several thefts.

In Russia, ex-prisoners who have returned home from the war often reoffend. This is because the authorities release them back into society without any therapy after their cruel deployment at the front. Many Russians no longer feel safe.
