During his match on Monday in the first qualifying round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, French tennis pro Arthur Cazaux suddenly collapsed. He eventually had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair.

The 21-year-old Frenchman was in the middle of the third set against his compatriot Harold Mayot when he suddenly fell to the ground while waiting to serve. Paramedics immediately rushed over to help Cazaux. The referee also got up from his chair and checked on the player.

The 21-year-old was then taken off the pitch in a wheelchair. There is currently no information about the background to the incident or his current condition. However, it is assumed that the temperatures in Miami, which were around 31 degrees Celsius, and the humidity of around 70 percent were the cause.

Mayot defends himself against accusations
Videos of the scene went viral on social media and his opponent's behavior was criticized. Mayot vehemently defended himself against this: "I didn't see him fall and I thought he was lying down because he had a cramp. When I realized it was serious, I went to him immediately and was very worried."

Cazaux is ranked 74th in the ATP rankings. This season, he has already won the Australian Opena, when he beat Holger Rune in round two and only lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 16.
