Open until Easter
Ski resorts are gearing up for the last few days
If you still want to ski despite the spring-like temperatures, you should definitely make the most of the coming weeks. At least the major local ski resorts are still open. But then it's finally over at Easter.
"We started early and had good conditions all winter. But now it will soon come to an end. We're still looking at when exactly," says Gerald Paschinger from Hochficht, leaving it open as to when the season will end. In any case, they have already switched to partial operation.
Semester break not ideal
The Kasberg also had to react to the warm temperatures: "During the week, the lifts are closed. During the Easter vacations - from March 23rd to Easter Monday, April 1st - the lifts will be open all day again," says Managing Director Johann Drack. He can look back on a successful first season, apart from the semester break, which was poor due to the weather.
"Into the valley by cable car"
"Operations are planned until Easter Monday. Nothing is currently standing in the way of this, but we'll have to see how the weather develops. If it stays like it is now, we can easily keep going," assures Rupert Schiefer, CEO of Dachstein Tourismus AG. "Easter is approaching and things are looking very good. We are proud to still have great conditions from the middle station onwards. You just have to take the cable car down to the valley," says Helmut Holzinger, Director of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm, describing the situation there.
Incidentally, the Wurzeralm will also be closed on Easter Monday. In Hinterstoder, you can ski down the slopes for a week longer, until April 7th - at least as far as the middle station.
