Fixed! Audi takes over F1 racing team Sauber completely
The last doubts now seem to have been dispelled - the German car manufacturer Audi is apparently definitely entering Formula 1 from the 2026 season! After the "Lords of the Rings" had already acquired a 25 percent stake in the Swiss racing team Sauber at the beginning of 2023, the remaining 75 percent is now said to have been taken over in the past few days ...
As "Bild" and "Motorsport-Total.com" claim to have found out independently of each other, team boss Andreas Seidl appeared before the assembled team on Wednesday afternoon in Jeddah, where the second race of this year's Formula 1 season will take place next Saturday, to officially announce the takeover.
Germany can therefore look forward to a second German team in Formula 1 from 2026 - alongside the former successful Mercedes team. However, the team's headquarters will be in Switzerland - in Hinwil in the canton of Zurich, where Sauber has been based for decades and where the entire team infrastructure is located.

For the time being, the uncertainty surrounding the Formula 1 commitment of Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, should be a thing of the past. In recent months, there have been repeated rumors that the company would be inclined to cancel its long-planned entry into the premier class of motorsport due to the overall economic situation. And to sell the shares already acquired in Sauber at the highest possible price ...
