Disappointment in Aspen
Skiing sensation no longer feels his lower body
Last year, AJ Ginnis made himself immortal with World Championship silver in the slalom in his home country, but now things are not going well for the Greek. Partly because his body is not playing ball at the moment.
"We tried everything, but skiing for 50 seconds or more wasn't on the cards today. It's pretty awful not to feel the left side of your lower body," the slalom specialist, who has recurring problems with his knee, explained via Instagram after his retirement on Sunday in Aspen.
"But we're glad we gave it a go," says Ginnis. "That's part of this sport. We will learn to get better."
Star at home
A lot changed for Ginnis after last year's World Cup in France. Greece's Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis invited him to go skiing, tennis hero Stefanos Tsitsipas celebrated the skiing Hercules. Almost 36,000 people now follow him on Instagram.
However, the 29-year-old's fans don't need to worry too much about his current state of health. Ginnis will also be competing in the last slaloms of the season in Kranjska Gora and Saalbach.
