Giant "cultural panels"
All roads lead to Zwettl?

When it comes to the famous saying "All roads lead to Rome", it has so far had to be adapted for the Waldviertel town of Zwettl. Until now, "all roads led past the town center". To make this clear to tourists and day trippers unfamiliar with the area, four square meter signs were placed on the bypass.
Three huge boards showing the Hundertwasser fountain and the old town hall of the Waldviertel district capital Zwettl were erected along the bypass. "Of course, we Zwettlers know the best way to get to the town center and where to turn off. However, many guests and day trippers who are traveling in the Waldviertel often don't notice the exits and don't see the town when they drive past," says City Councillor for Tourism Anne Blauensteiner, emphasizing the motivation for having the huge so-called "culture boards" made.
Brown is international
The brown color was also chosen by those responsible for tourism and culture, as the same color is used for signs that refer to special monuments, landscapes and cultural sites around the world. The graphic views of the old town hall and Hundertwasser fountain - both of which are important landmarks in the Kuenringer city - would only reinforce this.
Visible even at 100 km/h
Blauensteiner is pleased to say that the two-by-two-meter boards are clearly visible even at 100 km/h. As part of a larger traffic guidance system, she has already planned more - this time green - signs. These are intended to draw attention to the city's role as a brewing town.
