Falling asleep while parking a truck after an accident
On Saturday evening, a truck driver wanted to park his truck on a street in Wels and collided with a parked car, which was noticed by a witness. The witness eventually called the police when the driver did not get out of the car. He had fallen asleep at the wheel - with 2.88 per mille in his blood.
At around 7 p.m., a 28-year-old truck driver from Steinhaus bei Wels tried to park his vehicle on Hamerlingstraße in Wels and collided with a parked car. A 37-year-old man witnessed the accident. When he wondered why the truck driver did not get out to inspect the accident, he alerted the police.
Driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.88
They found the driver snoring in his tractor unit, he had fallen asleep. A breathalyzer test revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.88 per mille. The 28-year-old had to temporarily surrender his driver's license.
Four withdrawals during checks
In the district of Gmunden, officers caught four impaired drivers during priority checks: three of them had more than 0.8 per mille in their blood and one was impaired by addictive substances. All four had to surrender their driving licenses. In addition, 25 organ mandates were issued, twelve reports were issued and the license plates of two vehicles were confiscated.
