Skier dies in hospital after collision

On Monday, there was a violent collision between two skiers in the Mellau-Damüls ski area in Vorarlberg. A Swiss skier was injured to an indeterminate degree and flown by rescue helicopter to Feldkirch Regional Hospital. The sad news came on Thursday: the man died in hospital due to his serious injuries.

In the incident on Monday, the man had run over the end of another winter sportsman's skis, causing them both to fall. While his German opponent suffered injuries to his arms, the Swiss man had to be resuscitated on the piste and, according to the police, flown to the hospital in Feldkirch with undetermined injuries.

On Thursday, three days after the accident, the Swiss man died in Feldkirch. There is no further information on the cause of death.
