A 60-year-old man and his family probably owe their lives to their light sleep. At around 3.20 a.m., the man became aware of a fire on the façade and woke his wife and two daughters. The family of four managed to escape in time and the firefighters took over the extinguishing work.

At around 3.20 a.m. on Friday, a fire broke out on the facade of a house in Perg in Upper Austria for as yet unknown reasons. The 60-year-old homeowner noticed the fire and was able to wake his 53-year-old wife and his two daughters, aged 16 and 17, in time.

Attempts to extinguish the fire failed
They then left the house and called the emergency services. The 60-year-old then tried to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful. The Perg and Pergkirchen fire departments were deployed with a total of 45 people and were able to declare "fire out" at around 5 o'clock.
