ATM blown up – three masked men on the run
A spectacular incident occurred on Thursday night in the Vorarlberg border community of Hohenweiler. Three masked perpetrators blew up an ATM in the self-service foyer of a bank. The trio then fled in the direction of Germany. A cross-border manhunt is underway.
Early Thursday morning at around 3.30 a.m., three masked men marched into the foyer of the Raiffeisenbank in Leutenhofen. There they blew up a cash dispenser and then fled in the direction of Germany. A transnational police manhunt is underway.
Two apartments evacuated
There are also two apartments in the building that houses the bank. The residents were woken from their sleep by the explosion, had to be brought outside by the emergency services and were accommodated with relatives. No one was injured.
Demining service on site
The scene is currently cordoned off over a large area. Specialists from the demining service must first check it for explosive residue before they can begin to secure evidence.
