Five fire brigades extinguished

At around 2 p.m. on Saturday, five fire departments were alerted to Lichtenau im Mühlkreis with the emergency keyword "forest fire". When the firefighters arrived, an approximately 20x30 meter large piece of forest was in flames. According to the police, the owner of a farmhouse had tipped out ashes.

Around 600 square meters of forest right on the border with the Czech Republic started to burn on Saturday afternoon. The owner of a house right on the edge of the forest is said to have dumped ashes from the stove there beforehand. Five fire departments immediately rushed to the scene and began extinguishing the fire with two high-pressure pipes.

Fire quickly extinguished
In order to secure the supply of extinguishing water, the tanker from the Rohrbach fire department was also alerted. The incident commander was thus able to draw on a total of 10,000 liters of water and the fire was quickly brought under control.

Drohe in action
The rapid deployment of the fire department and the cold weather may have prevented the fire from spreading further. A drone and thermal imaging camera were used to check the forest for any embers.
