Ticket on the track: hit by train while picking it up

Unbelievable! After a woman in Carinthia picked up her train ticket that had fallen onto the tracks, she was hit by a train and thrown onto the platform. The woman is alive and injured. 

An unusual traffic accident occurred on the Southern line at the Klagenfurt-Lend stop at around 6.20 p.m. on Monday: a 67-year-old woman's train ticket had fallen onto the tracks; she wanted to pick it up and therefore climbed down.

As the woman was still sitting on the platform while climbing up and her feet were hanging down from the platform, a freight train approached and caught the 67-year-old's legs. The woman was thrown back onto the platform by the train and remained there.

After initial emergency medical treatment, the 67-year-old woman was taken to Klagenfurt Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity.

Train services had to be interrupted for a good hour.
