A geriatric nurse was exposed as a thief

A geriatric nurse is alleged to have stolen valuables from people in her care since 2017. In addition to cash, jewelry and clothing, the 48-year-old also stole household items. Twelve thefts in several federal states have been proven against the Romanian citizen.

Investigations involving 22 police stations throughout Germany revealed that the 48-year-old had changed her fosterlings at intervals of one to two months. In some cases, the departure may have been linked to a theft, as was the case in July in the district of Mödling.

At the time, an 84-year-old woman reported to the police that the caregiver had left and that various pieces of jewelry were now missing as well as cash.

The thief is now in prison
After an initially unsuccessful manhunt, the Romanian woman was arrested on Friday of the previous week by officers from the Mattighofen police station (Braunau district) on the basis of an order from the Wiener Neustadt public prosecutor's office. The accused was subsequently taken to Ried im Innkreis prison.
