Men beat up the victim: Two arrests

Two arrests were made in Vienna's city center on Sunday night after several men clashed over a failed flirting attempt.

When the argument between the suspects escalated at around 4.30 am, the 31-year-old began threatening to kill his opponent (28) and punched him several times. Another suspect (35) intervened, also punched the 28-year-old and threatened him with a knife. Another person involved (36) was also injured.

Attempted escape failed
Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the police. Both suspects were arrested a short time later. However, the 35-year-old resisted arrest and tried to flee. The officers were able to prevent the escape attempt, but one of them was injured in the process.

Folding knife seized
During the subsequent search, a black folding knife was seized from the 35-year-old and a small amount of cannabis from the 31-year-old. A provisional weapons ban was issued against the 35-year-old.
