Snack bar set on fire: Croatian man goes to prison

In November 2021, a snack bar in Wals-Siezenheim burned to the ground. For two years, it was unclear who the arsonist was - until the police caught a Croatian man (25). 

At the start of the trial in mid-June, however, he denied the accusation of arson: "I was in hospital in Belgrade at the time," he explained. A written confirmation of this turned out to be a forgery.

In the background, it is said to be about drug debts - the order to set the fire probably came from a gang. On Tuesday, the Croatian was given a two-year unconditional prison sentence. Not legally binding.
