Mayor sues ex-politician over likes

Klagenfurt's mayor is taking his critics to court - under both criminal and civil law. As reported, the case concerns comments on social networks that were accompanied by vomit smileys and were not exactly friendly. Now one of the defendants is speaking out for the first time in an interview with "Krone".

The issue surrounding Mayor Christian Scheider and the trial for defamation and insult against two Carinthians scheduled for Friday is making waves. "Scheider was insulted on social media in his function as mayor during the inauguration of a new square," explained Scheider's lawyer Michael Sommer. The mayor himself made it clear: "I am doing this on behalf of everyone who cannot defend themselves against hate online. If I am awarded a sum of money by the court, I will donate it."
