Complex recovery
Automatically saved design
On Thursday morning, there was a serious accident between two trucks on Vienna's Südosttangente (A23). Fortunately, nobody was injured. However, the subsequent recovery of the vehicles was a major challenge for the emergency services.
The two vehicles collided at around 9 a.m. at the Hanson bend in Vienna-Favoriten in the southbound direction. The driver's cab of the truck that collided was severely damaged. Among other things, the compressed air supply line tore off and coolant leaked out. However, the two drivers were able to get out unharmed.
Operation lasting several hours
The emergency services had to dismantle the cardan shaft of one of the trucks and then remove it from the A23 using lifting goggles from a special vehicle, reported fire department spokesman Christian Feiler. The other truck was repaired by removing damaged body parts to such an extent that the driver was able to remove the vehicle from the scene on his own. The operation on Austria's busiest highway lasted more than an hour and a half.
