"We have fixed our minds"
Bayern: Then the Rangnick decision will be made
FC Bayern will not announce the new coach until after the semi-final first leg of the Champions League on Tuesday against Real Madrid. Sports boss max Eberl revealed this on Saturday.
The game is "the decisive factor" first, said sporting director Max Eberl on Saturday after Munich's 2:1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga. Who will succeed Thomas Tuchel as the new coach in the summer "will be seen afterwards".
"We have committed ourselves"
Eberl did not provide any further details, and the 50-year-old did not comment specifically on the name Ralf Rangnick. "It's the case that we've made a commitment," said the sporting director, expressing amusement that this personnel matter is attracting so much attention. "It feels like this coach search is being talked about, discussed, commented on and debated every two hours. I'm curious to see when Markus Lanz (note: TV talk show host on ZDF) will finally get involved in this whole topic."
Rangnick (65), currently Austrian team manager, is said to be the clear favorite at Bayern after Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and DFB national coach Julian Nagelsmann withdrew.
