Surprise! Cult goalie becomes sporting director in Wels
Instead of competing for the title and promotion, SPG Wels disappointed in the regional league in the spring. This resulted in personnel changes, with the club announcing the departure of sporting director Harun Sulimani at the end of the season. However, the Messestadt team found a replacement quicker than expected.
"The appeal of SPG Wels is now enormous. As soon as we announced our search for a new sports director, we received numerous inquiries," says manager Peter Huliak, who was quicker than expected to let white smoke rise on Thursday. Rene Swete, former cult goalie of TSV Hartberg, will immediately take over the vacant position.
"Enormous potential"
Swete, who was most recently active as a scout at Hartberg and, among other things, arranged the transfer of Max Entrup, says of his new role: "I made a conscious decision to take this step to Wels. The club has enormous potential and is growing rapidly in all areas!"
